The night after WrestleMania is traditionally one of the most electrifying nights all year in WWE, and this year’s Monday Night RAW was no exception.
The night began with a celebration from the brand-new WWE Undisputed Champion, John Cena. Thrilled after his monumental win at WrestleMania 41, Cena took the mic to boast about his title reign, referring to himself as “the last real champion.”
However, his moment of glory was quickly interrupted when he launched into a rant about former champion Cody Rhodes. Karma came quickly, as Randy Orton appeared from nowhere, delivering a vicious RKO on Cena.
Orton’s intention was clear: he wants a shot at the title, setting the stage for a potential showdown at Backlash.
The action continued with a WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship match featuring former champions Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez, the Judgment Day.
They faced the odd couple of Becky Lynch and WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion Lyra Valkyria, fresh off their WrestleMania championship victory over the Judgement Day.
In a back-and-forth match, Morgan and Rodriguez regained their titles in a surprising upset and are set to defend them the next night on NXT against Gigi Dolan and Tatum Paxley.
However, the chaos didn’t end there, a furious Becky Lynch turned heel by attacking Lyra Valkyria post-match, setting up an intriguing twist in the women’s division.
Next, The New Day took the ring to celebrate their triumph as the new WWE World Tag Team Champions, but were interrupted by Akira Tozawa and Otis with Maxxine Dupri.
The duo looked to stake their claim for a shot at the titles. Before a match could begin, the crowd erupted as Rusev made his shocking return, laying out both Tozawa and Otis, clearly signaling his intent to dominate on Monday nights.
Tensions escalated next when NXT Women’s Champion Stephanie Vaquer confronted WWE Women’s Champion IYO SKY.
This anticipated encounter quickly spilled into a match, but ended in chaos with Roxanne Perez attacking Vaquer. This also led to appearances from Gulia and Rhea Ripley, resulting in all-out chaos, further heating the women’s division.
The night took a celebratory turn as the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion Jey Uso, took center stage alongside his brother Jimmy Uso and Sami Zayn.
The celebration was heartfelt, a moment of unity for the trio following WrestleMania. However, the post-celebration happiness didn’t last long as we transitioned to backstage drama.
Backstage, AJ Styles found himself face-to-face with the villainous Karrion Kross, who was attempting to sway AJ to embrace his darker side after his loss to Logan Paul at WrestleMania 41.
The chaos wouldn’t end there as former WWE World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER, still seething over his WrestleMania defeat, wreaked havoc by attacking commentators Michael Cole and Pat McAffe.
Following the assault, WWE RAW general manager Adam Pearce confronted GUNTHER, who was still unapologetic for his actions.
Up next would be a WWE Intercontinental Championship match as Dominik Mysterio faced off against Penta. The match was filled with tension from Mysterio’s ongoing conflict with Finn Balor from WrestleMania 41 and earlier in the night.
Thanks to an assist from a returning JD McDonagh, Mysterio managed to retain his title, but the drama surrounding his win suggested a the rivalry between these competitors is not over.
To close the show, Seth Rollins made his way to the ring with his new advocate, Paul Heyman, to explain Heyman’s shocking betrayal of CM Punk and Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 41.
Before Rollins could explain his plans for the future, he was blindsided by Punk himself. After an intense brawl, Rollins emerged victorious, but the chaos continued as Reigns wasn’t gonna let Rollins escape.
In a shocking twist, former WWE Intercontinental Champion Bron Breakker intervened, blindsiding Reigns and aligning himself with Rollins and Heyman. The night ended on a cliffhanger as tensions ran high.
WWE Monday Night RAW post-WrestleMania 41 was packed with excitement, shocking returns, and twists that have set the stage for an exhilarating lead-up to Backlash on May 10.
With championship titles changing hands, heel turns igniting fresh rivalries, and alliances forming, fans can only anticipate what’s next in this ever-changing world of professional wrestling.
