The girls varsity basketball team fought to achieve their first section and third win of the season Thursday night.
After losing to Canon-Mac, 57-42, on Tuesday, the Lady Hawks were out for blood.
While the first half looked to be in Trinity’s favor, the Lady Hawks came back in the second half and won in dramatic fashion, 54-52.
The starting five were Ella Sabatos (senior), Sadie Orie (senior), Bella Coleman (junior), Kathryn Boff (junior), and Alice Elphinstone (sophomore).
Ella Sabatos won the tip-off, and the Hawks took an early 5-0 lead after a 3-point shot by Bella Coleman.
After the first quarter, Trinity was leading 24-16.
With 3:54 left in the second quarter, Avery Bonacci stole the ball, made a fast breakĀ and set up the rebound for Fiona O’Neill.
With that basket, the Lady Hawks chipped away some of Trinity’s lead.
By halftime, Trinity led 37-28.

The Lady Hawks drew up a game plan and brought the energy back up for the second half.
Despite some steals in the third quarter, it still wasn’t enough to close the gap.
Heading into the fourth quarter, Trinity was leading by 12 points.
At 5:29 left in the fourth quarter, the Hawks were down by 10 when Ella Sabatos had a game-changing steal that led to a fast break giving the Hawks two more points.
