The girls basketball team has wrapped up regular season play with an overall record of 11-9 and a section record of 8-4. The Lady Hawks are now getting ready for the post-season with hopes of success.

They are set to play the Lady Knights on Wednesday, Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. at Norwin High School in the first round of the WPIAL playoffs.

The Lady Hawks enter the playoffs hot off a 63-63 win over North Catholic on Monday, Feb. 14.

Junior, captain Mary Boff had 25 points in the game.

The Lady Hawks are looking to use this win and the successful regular season for fuel going into the playoffs.

“We can build on our momentum from the regular season and go into the playoffs strong,” said sophomore forward Becky Gillenberger.

The Lady Hawks have been given the No. 5 seed in the 6A girls WPIAL playoff bracket.  The Lady Norwin Knights (12-2, 15-6) are the No. 4 seed. They finished second in their section behind No. 2-seed North Allegheny.

This will be a challenge for the Lady Hawks, considering the game is on Norwin’s home court. The Norwin Lady Knights have had a successful season themselves, but nothing the Lady Hawks can’t handle.

“We can only win if we play as a team,” said Mary Boff.

The Lady Hawks will have to keep putting in the work at practice to go far in the postseason.

“If everyone is working hard and contributing at practice, we will go far in the playoffs,” said Boff.

Good luck to the Lady Hawks!
