Hawks wrestling falls short to Blue Devils

The Hawks fell to the Blue Devils 50-21 on Wednesday night, which moves them 4-5 overall and 2-2 in the section.

The match started at the 138-pound weight class with senior Parker Loera getting the Hawks on the board first with a 6-2 decision.

Lebo then took the next four matches, making the score 20-3.

Senior Riley O’Mara got a pin at 182 pounds for the Hawks to get the score to 20-9.

The two Luke’s faced off at 195 with senior Luke Stout (Mt. Lebo) taking the match 6-2 over senior Luke Montgomery, putting Lebo up 23-9.

Senior Tyler Thimons got the pin at 220 pounds to add six more for the Hawks, but Lebo won the heavyweight bout, taking a 26-15 lead.

The Blue Devils got a forfeit at 106 and 113 to add 12 more.

Bryson Bench got a forfeit for the Hawks at 120 pounds, but Lebo took the last two matches at 126 and 132 with pins.

“Pain is temporary, pride is forever. We preach these things in the room. I tell them I do not care who is standing in their way, he is going down, and to get that in their heads,” assistant mat boss Mark Eckley said.

The Hawks resume action this Friday, January 10 and Saturday, January 11 at the Tri-State Scuffle at Burgettstown High School.
