Mr. Knapp back in the coaching saddle

Mr. Knapp poses for a pic with Mr. Bruce and Mr. Jones.

It’s been seven years since Mr. Knapp walked the sidelines of a basketball court. He couldn’t wait any longer to get back to doing what he loves.

The long-time high school and middle school head man for both girls and boys basketball is back coaching the 7th-grade boys middle school team, looking for another successful season.

After nearly a decade away from the game, he understands that he may have to change some things up as the game has evolved over that period of time, but he is confident in his coaching philosophies that won him a lot of games over the last 30+ years.

“It’s definitely a different game since I left, but I’m just going to focus on what I’ve always done and had success with and implement some new things as the season progresses.”

The coaching legend is getting help this year from his wingman, former BP social worker Mr. Jones.

Mr. Jones, after taking over for Coach Knapp when he stepped away from the game, made a name for himself as a head coach at the middle school level.

The two are back together and looking to lead BP middle school basketball to more winning seasons in the future.
