Baseball team makes the playoffs

The varsity baseball team (8-2,12-3) defeated border-rival USC, 9-3, on Wednesday, May 1. With the win, the Hawks clinched a playoff spot.

Junior pitcher Evan Bromley is 6-0 on the mound this year. Sophomore Eric Chalus had three hits in the game. Freshman David Kessler and Bo Conrad combined for four hits and three RBIs. Strangis and Chiccitt had clutch hits as well.

The Hawks made their 5th consecutive playoffs this year.

The Hawks also picked up a big win against Mt. Lebo (5-4,9-8) Friday night. Sophomore Josh Peters was on the mound in the Hawks 7-6 win. Brandon Cole led the offense with two hits. With the win, the Hawks are back in first place.

Canon Mac (5-5, 9-7) is next on the Hawks’ schedule. They play Monday, May 6 at Wild Things Park at 4 p.m.
