Athletes of the Week: Grace Myers and Luke Montgomery

About Grace and Luke:
Grace and Luke are both very accomplished student-athletes here at BPHS. Grace is a swimmer on the varsity team. Grace received her first varsity letter last year as a freshman and went to WPIALs. The “Rookie of the Year,” as voted by her teammates last year, is looking to make a statement this year at WPIALs. Luke wrestles in the weight class 195 for the Hawks. He was named “Wrestler of the Week” by the Tribune-Review for the first week of January after his first-place finish at the Southmoreland Holiday Classic. He was also named “Most Improved Wrestler” in the state of Pennsylvania by PA Power Wrestling.
Athlete of the Week: Grace Myers
How many years have you been swimming? This year will mark my 9th year.
What stroke and race(s) do you compete in? The main two are the 100-meter breaststroke and the 200 individual medley.
What is your favorite type of stroke? Breaststroke
What makes swimming so special to you? It would have to be the friendships, memories, and accomplishments that I have made over all of my years competing.
Do you have any siblings? If so, what are their names? I have one younger brother and his name is Luke.
Who are you most competitive within your family? Probably my brother even though most of the time it’s a joke.
Who got you into swimming? I would say my parents because of all their support and motivation that they have given me from the very beginning.
What is your favorite moment from swimming? Whenever I got my first WPIAL cut freshman year on senior night because the atmosphere was so fun and that night was overall exciting.
Any future plans? I want to find a nice college as my first priority, but I am definitely considering swimming in college.
If you could have dinner with anyone in history, who would it be? Shawn Mendes because I love him!
If you became the richest person in the world, what would you do first? I would first give some of the money away to charities and travel everywhere.
Any special thanks? To all of the coaches that have coached me in the past and now for bringing out the best in me, but there are too many to name but I love them all. I also have to thank my family because I would not be where I am today without their loving support.
Athlete of the Week: Luke Montgomery
How many years have you wrestled for? 11 years
What is your favorite wrestling moment? When I went to Virginia Beach my freshman year for the NHSCA duals.
Future plans? I plan to wrestle D1 in college.
If you could redo a match, which match would it be? It would be earlier this year at Burgettstown. I lost to someone I definitely could have beat.
If you were explaining wrestling to someone who does not know much about it, what would you tell them? I would tell them it’s a contest of agility, strength, and endurance all in one.
Siblings? Names? I have two siblings and their names are Adam and Jason.
Favorite Movie? “The Dark Knight”
If you had to eat one thing the rest of your life, and you would not have to worry about health, what would it be? Alaskan Crab
Any special thanks? I thank my brothers for instilling the goals that I have and my parents for backing them.
