Lady Hawks conquer the Spartans

On Thursday, Jan. 17, the Lady Hawks basketball team defeated the Hempfield Spartans in the second round of section play, 64-32.
The Lady Hawks were led by senior point guard Maria Cerro, who had 20 points. Junior forward Maddie Dziezgowski had 18 points, and sophomore guard Olivia Westphal had 15 points.
After the game, junior guard Lauren Mullen said, “We got the opportunity to work on things we needed to: boxing out and looking for the extra pass.”
The Lady Hawks are now 12-1 overall and 7-1 in the section. They are back on the road on Monday, Jan. 21 for a 7:30 tip-off. They will be traveling to Upper Saint Clair where they will be continuing their second round of section games.
