Hawks wrestling snags big win over Highlanders on Youth Night

The Hawks varsity wrestling team defeated the Baldwin Highlanders, 70-6, on Wednesday, Jan. 2.

The Hawks came into the match sitting at 2-5 on the season and 0-2 in the section while Baldwin was also 0-2.

The night started with the presentation of the junior wrestling program running out in front of the fans, followed by the match.

The Hawks claimed all the individual matches, racking up four pins from Vinny Riepole, Parker Loera, Justin Metzmaier and Brandon Hartman. They also snagged a major decision from Luke Montgomery. The Hawks finished up their team points with seven forfeits while giving up one.

“We wrestled well as a team. Our team is getting more competitive, and we are almost at full strength,” Head Coach Tim Crawford said.

The Hawks travel to The Den to face the Mt. Lebanon Blue Devils for a big section match on Wednesday, Jan. 9.
