Lady Hawks lose to Tigers, crush cancer
On Saturday, Jan. 27, the girls basketball team raised $4,500 at the DIPG classic in memory of Joey Fabus.
Starting at 12 p.m., a total of 10 teams competed and five games were played
In the first game of the day, Bishop Canevin defeated Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic with a final score of 54-50.
In the next game, Oakland Catholic upended North Hills with a score of 56-39.
Upper St. Clair won against Seneca Valley 50-45 in the third game.
Peters Township defeated Hampton 47-37 in the fourth game.
In the final game of the day and in a rematch from last year’s WPIAL finals, Bethel park came up short against North Allegheny with a final score of 57-43.
Top scorers for the Hawks were Kam Lach with 12 and Madelyn Dziezgowski with 10.
“It was a tough loss and we hope to see them again soon. On a positive note, it was for a great cause and thank you to everyone who donated,” said Kam Lach.
The Lady Hawks are back in section play and will travel to Mt. Lebanon on Monday, Jan 29 at 7:30 p.m.
