Due to a recent stroke, Kris Letang will miss up to six weeks.
This injury came as a bit of a shock because Kris is only 26 years old. This injury was discovered while the Penguins were on the road at Los Angeles. He was held out of the game in LA, and testing was preformed on the road in Phoenix. In Phoenix, doctors discovered the degree of his injury. Further testing was conducted when the team came back to Pittsburgh.
Doctors discovered that the stroke would not be life threatening and could be easily treated, and he would only miss up to six weeks. After test results came back, that is when doctors also discovered that he had a small hole in his heart, which may have caused the stroke.
With most of the Penguins in Sochi, and the penguins next game not until Thursday, Feb. 27, Kris will have plenty of time to recover from his injury.
The Penguins will miss Kris Letang, but they can stay a strong team without him. The Penguins have key defensemen such as Paul Martin, who is competing for team USA in the Olympics, Olli Maatta, who is competing for Finland, and Brooks Orpik, for team USA.
With everything going on for the Penguins, hopefully Kris Letang will be back on the ice soon and ready to come back to the team.
