The Black Hawk Boys Volleyball team is taking on the top-seeded North Allegheny Tigers in the WPIAL Class AAA championship tonight at 8:00 at Baldwin High School.
The Hawks have had a spectacular season, winning 17 of 18 games so far. They clinched their spot in the WPIAL championship game with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-23) win against the former No. 9 ranked team in Pennsylvania, the Norwin Knights.
Their game tonight against North Allegheny will prove to be a clash of the volleyball titans. Senior middle-hitter Bobby Huntington believes that it will be a very tough match up.
“It could go either way,” he said. “Hopefully, in the end, we will come out on top.”
North Allegheny is the top-seeded and six-time defending champion of the WPIAL title. Bethel faced them last year in the semi-finals and lost 2-3.
Senior Grant Underwood wants nothing more than to win this game with his teammates and best friends.
“We have to have a unified team goal and play for the person next to us,” he said. “We need to realize that it could be our last game ever.”
Led by Coach Allman, the Black Hawk Volleyball team is ready for their match up tonight.
“We need to have more energy than NA,” Bobby said. “If we play well, I think we can finally win that banner.”
