Currently one of the NFL’s greatest linebackers in the league, Ray Lewis, announced his retirement from the Baltimore Ravens at the end of this season.
Lewis is a 17-year veteran in the NFL, with 13 Pro Bowl appearances, and a multitude of other titles. He led the Ravens in tackling for years on end, as well as the entire NFL at a point in time.
Since he signed with Baltimore, he played a key role in better increasing the team’s defensive statistics. After a couple years in the league, he worked his tail off, and eventually became the Raven’s defensive captain.
At 37 years old, with a torn tricep, Ray Lewis is said to retire due to age and more importantly, due to becoming a full time dad. Ray says that his child means the world to him, and that he wants to be around to raise his child properly.
Considering Ray Lewis changed the game of football from the linebacker position, it’s tough to say whether or not his words in regards to retirement will hold up or not.
