March 27,2012 had one purpose, DODGEBALL! Twenty-six teams gathered for an amazing experience. I, Gino Johnson, was a member of Team Budz, a team orchestrated and lead by legendary leader, Tyler Thomas. The moment dodgeball crossed Tyler’s ears, he hit the lab, succeeding in developing the ultimate squad.
When developing a squad, the perfect recipe was needed. Thankfully, Tyler Thomas was able to put the P in perfect, which enabled the best suited players to join in creating the impeccable squad. If it weren’t for Tyler, our team wouldn’t have been created. Tyler and I knew Mr. AlleBOSS was a necessity. So after a few days of begging went by, AlleBOSS caved and gladly joined our team. During those few days, I pondered the question: Why wouldn’t AlleBOSS want to play dodgeball regardless of whose team he would be on. Then it hit me, AlleBOSS was only trying to play if the school allowed it and if he was on the same team as me. When he joined the team, tears of joy ran down the both of our eyes, allowing us to play together.
Our brilliant captain devised a squad that other teams feared to face. The squad consisted of the captain, Tyler, Vince Mamone, John AlleBOSS, Troy Pecinos, Brian Brust, Jeff Locke-noss Monster, Colin Bandell, and myself. A few days before March 27, we came to the conclusion to just have fun and not worry about winning.
The second we entered the battlefield, chemistry clicked. Instantly, during the first game, we took the lead. Afterwards, we knew from that point on with our talent, losing was not an option. With AlleBOSS on our team, it was obvious, that God himself could not stop us from winning. With Colin rifling randoms out, AlleBOSS distracting, Vince dodging, myself catching everything, and the captain, Tyler, leading, it was inevitable that Team Budz was unbeatable. Not to mention our team’s heart and soul, Matt Stepic, without him we would not be able to call ourselves Team Budz. Therefore, to conclude everything, Team Budz was 6-0, and the SGA Dodgeball tournament was unforgettable and definitely for a good cause.
