As October comes to an end, the next two weeks are sure to bring spooky spirits to the halls of Bethel Park!
The annual Halloween door-decorating contest, organized by SGA, takes place during the week of PSAT and ASVAB testing.
All homerooms select a theme, and the fun begins on Tuesday, Oct. 20, during the extended homeroom period.
Students who are not participating in testing or paperwork in the Academic Wing will decorate their doors to match their given theme.
Decorating resumes on Tuesday, Oct. 27, during another extended homeroom period.
Homeroom teachers are asked to take a photo of their classroom door and submit it to a Google Drive folder that was shared with them in an email.
Voting will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 28, through a Google Form, and the students whose homeroom door is dubbed the spookiest will receive a treat during the following week.
Last year’s winner was Ms. Pfeuffer’s room. Whose door will be crowned this year?
Sweet treats aside, Oct. 27 marks the start of the second quarter and this year’s Spirit Week.
Pajama Day starts the week off; all themes are as follows:
- Monday 27: Pajama Day
- Tuesday 28: Are You Afraid of the Dark? (wear neon/bright clothing)
- Wednesday 29: Wednesday Adams (wear all black)
- Thursday 30: Harry Potter Battle of the Classes
- Friday 31: Halloween Costume Contest
On Thursday, Hogwarts Houses are decided by grade. Freshmen are to wear yellow to represent Hufflepuff, sophomores blue for Ravenclaw, and juniors red for Gryffindor. Finally, seniors should dress in green to symbolize Slytherin.
Next Friday, on Halloween, students and staff alike are encouraged to show off their costumes.
Mr. Short promises, “The math department is once again going to bring home the gold this year!”
This year’s staff contest will include awards for funniest, most creative, scariest, and best group.
As a reminder, all students’ costumes are to comply with the school dress code and cannot obscure a student’s face. Masks and full face paint are not permitted.
Happy Halloween, Hawks!
