BPHS to host college fair
Students who are looking to get a head start on their college searches, including finding a college that is just right, that is the perfect distance from home, that has the programs they are looking for and is in an ideal learning environment, should come to the college fair that BPHS is hosting on Tuesday, Oct. 11 from 6-8:30 p.m.
There will be over 100 vendors there, not just from four-year schools, but also two-year schools, trade schools, and the military.
The surrounding school districts attending include Baldwin, Canon Mac, Mt. Lebanon, Peters Township, South Fayette, South Park, and Upper St. Clair. Therefore, if you aren’t comfortable attending solo, you can bring a friend from anywhere in the area!
At this event, you are recommended to walk around from booth to booth to hear what different schools have to offer. You are encouraged to have personal discussions with the admission team of schools of interest, and it is the perfect opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
Junior Meghan Dehaven said, “As a junior, I don’t know much about my future and I think it is a great opportunity to scope out my options.”
Even if you believe you know what colleges you want to apply to, it is still beneficial to attend. There may be a school there that you have never heard of that could be a great fit for you!
When it comes to registering for this event, there is nothing to do! It is a free event that the Bethel Park School District is providing.
It is not required that you attend for the full two and a half hours. If you wish to stop by, for example, for just half an hour, that is more than okay! If you would like to stay for the entire duration of the event, that is appreciated as well.
BPHS Counselor Mike Bruce said, “It’s never too early to start to talk to any of the representatives to see what they have to offer you. Our goal is to provide enough vendors to suit everyone’s interest…There will also be break-out sessions that focus on Financial Aid as well as filling out The Common Application! This is the best academic event that BPHS is proud to host …(and it’s in your backyard).”
To summarize this event as a whole, it is a pressure reliever. It helps break apart the idea of higher learning and gives you resources to use on that journey. Hopefully, you will be able to attend this event on Oct. 11!
