German students take home awards from 2018 Three Rivers German Day Competition

BPHS German students showed their talent and true knowledge of German at the 2018 Three Rivers German Day Competition that happened on March 15 at Washington & Jefferson College. The students competed against 14 other schools and won first place twice, second place three times, and one third place.

In the poetry recitation category, senior Noah Voskamp finished second, and in the non-fiction writing category, senior Emily Clarvit finished third.

The students displayed their tremendous talent of knowing a lot about Germany in the German Culture Bowl. Sophomore Brandon Janus finished in second place. Senior Evan Aronhalt won the competition for the second year in a row!

Students also earned medals in the art section of the contests.  Sophomore Rachel Najdzinski made her way to second place with her sketch of Bavaria’s Neuschwanstein Castle. Freshman Abby Cannon won first place with her art, based on “The Frog-King” fairytale, which was made to look like stained glass.
