BPHS sports gold shirts for childhood cancer awareness

Did you notice the sea of gold T-shirts last Friday at BPHS? It’d be impossible for anyone to miss it!

On Friday, Sept. 4, BP students and staff wore gold t-shirts to school and to the home football game to support childhood cancer awareness, specifically for Joey Fabus, who passed away from DIPG last January.

“Seeing so many people support my brother and childhood cancer awareness is overwhelming and I often find it hard to put into words, but it’s very comforting. It makes me very proud of Joey; seeing that even after he’s gone he is still creating a legacy and is a source of strength for other people, myself included,” Olivia Fabus said.

Students, staff, and all of Bethel Park are wearing the shirts to school, football games, and other events all throughout the whole month of September, childhood cancer awareness month. The shirts were available to purchase all last week during lunch for only $10.

“My family and I will forever express our gratitude for every single person’s support throughout his fight, and even after. The awareness Joey brought to the disease will truly go on to help other little boys and girls win their battles with such terrible diseases, so everyone’s support means the absolute world to me,” Fabus said.
