NHS applications due on March 20
All sophomores, juniors, and seniors that have at least a 3.85 GPA have received letters in homeroom saying they are eligible to become a member of the National Honor Society. The application deadline of Friday, March 20th is quickly approaching.
Eligible students need to submit two recommendations from teachers and a record of 35 hours of community service. They must also write an essay about how they demonstrate the four pillars of NHS. They are scholarship, leadership, character, and community service. They must also think of a community service proposal that can be used within the National Honor Society. Make sure you type your responses on the form!
When NHS President Steven Davis was asked why should everyone apply to be in NHS, he said: “Candidly, not everyone should simply apply for induction into the National Honor Society. Everyone that wants to be a member and stands behind the beliefs of the NHS should apply! The National Honor Society upholds the four pillars of Character, Scholarship, Leadership, and Service. At BPHS, the National Honor Society is a club that not only recognizes the scholarship and character of outstanding students, but also, arguably more importantly, promotes leadership and community service. Being a member of BPNHS distinguishes you as a leader and as a citizen devoted to giving back to your community. If this sounds like you, make sure to complete and turn in your application by March 20th!”

The induction for new members will be held on Wednesday, April 8.
