BPHS student is named a National Merit Scholar finalist
Almost every student takes the PSATs at some point throughout their high school career. While many students excel on this test, some students go above and beyond the expectation of this test, and deserved to be honored. One of those students is BPHS senior Gabby Brookins.
Brookins is eligible to win one of the 8,000 scholarships that will be rewarded. She took the PSAT test in 2013 to be eligible to win such a prestigious award. Gabby is involved in school activities, is a leader, has a strong SAT score, and was recommended by the principal to become a finalist. In addition, she had to write an essay and fill out an application.
She is honored to be recommended for all of her achievements. Brookins said: “Being a finalist for the National Merit Scholarship is truly amazing and totally unexpected. I am so honored. When Dr. J told me about being a semi-finalist, I was shocked. The thought is kind of crazy. I am nothing but grateful to everyone who has affected me in some way and helped me to get where I am, a senior at Bethel Park High School preparing to graduate and take the next step in my life.”
Next year, Brookins plans to study business in college.
Everyone at BPHS knows that Gabby is a hard-working, dedicated student, and will succeed in whatever she decides to do. Being named a finalist is such an accomplishment. Congratulations!
