English 12 Honors students visit Nationality Rooms
On Monday, Jan. 12, Mr. Allemang’s English 12 Honor’s classes visited the Nationality Rooms at the University of Pittsburgh.
They saw a variety of rooms, including the Italian Room, Early American Room, Armenian Room, Russian Room, and many more!
One student who was on the field trip was Taylor Scalise. When asked what her favorite room was, she said, “Definitely the Syrian-Lebanon room! Although we couldn’t go in, the decorations were all very intricate and pretty.”
Senior Krista Van Dyke said, “They were very interesting. I have not been there in a very long time, and I enjoyed learning about the history of each of the countries.”
They went on this field trip so they can learn about all the countries that they read about in class. After the field trip, the students are required to complete a project.
Other than Mr. Allemang, Mr. Michael, Ms. Falce, and Ms. Totty were chaperones.
After the tours, the students got to enjoy a nice lunch in Oakland at the restaurant of their choice.
This was a day all of the seniors on the field trip will remember. They were able to learn about the cultures of many countries that they did not know about, and it will help them understand the literature that they read.
