Santa brunch is a success

This year, for the first time ever, members of DECA teamed up with the Chamber of Commerce to host the first annual Santa Brunch.

DECA, the marketing club for the school, invited members of its club to participate in the brunch. Many arrived for a great day of activities, fun, and laughter.

The brunch was held in the LGI room at the high school on Saturday, December 6 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Families from the community were able to meet Santa and make crafts. Lunch was provided by Chick-Fil-A, which served chicken nuggets.

People were also able to vote for their favorite holiday tree. These trees were displayed in the BPHS lobby and were decorated by various clubs, sports, and organizations. People can still vote for their favorite tree for the auction until December 19, when the winner will be announced. The winner will be able to take home the tree they bid on.  This event raised awareness for people to shop local during this time of year.

Three people in DECA that partnered with the Chamber of Commerce were juniors Cassie Brown, Abby Hartzell, and Kelsey Tischler, who learned many lessons from the activity

Hartzell said, “My favorite part was watching all the little kids with Santa, and I learned how to effectively implement our lessons from marketing class in real situations.”

Brown said, “My favorite part was seeing all the trees decorated and I learned a lot about planning and all that goes into advertising and marketing.”

Tischler said, “It was a great experience for the community as a whole I think. It gave Abby, Cassie, and I the chance to plan a real life event, which cannot be simulated through a text book or classroom example.”

Many enjoyed the Santa Brunch, and it seemed as this would happen for years to come.
