As the end of the 2012-2013 school year comes to a close, there’s one thing on the mind of every senior: graduation. But before we all get the heck out of here, there’s a few important events to keep in mind. So before you completely check-out and senioritis becomes terminally irreversible, make sure you at least tell your parents about these dates.
JUNE 6, 10, 11: Final Exams…so study hard! These days are full day schedules for all students. There will be no early dismissals, other than regular release program. So you better stay all day, no peacing out early to get lunch!
JUNE 7: Get pumped. It’s your last Kennywood Day! For thirteen years, you’ve ended the school year on a good note by getting out of school early to go hang out with friends, ride some rides, and get some Potato Patch fries at one of the most nostalgic locations of your childhood. So enjoy an early release at 11:15 and hurry to sign up for the SkyCoaster before it’s all sold out!
JUNE 12: All senior obligations must be cleared prior to this day. So remember to pay the lunch lady and give Dr. Novak that 12 cents that you’ve owed since November. Any senior with an outstanding obligation to the school will not receive their cap and gown, so just hurry up and pay before you make your mother cry! To find out if you owe anything, call Mrs. Schreiber at 412-854-8514
Also, today is the final exams make-up day, for all you lazy kids out there.
On June 12, there will also be an Awards Assembly held in the auditorium at 7:00 PM. Many seniors have received letters indicating that they’ve won an award. Students will be receiving any cords that they’ve earned for their graduation.
JUNE 12 & 13: On both of these days at 9:50 AM, graduation commencement practice will be held. Seniors MUST attend both practices. They are mandatory and cannot be missed for any reason, aside from college orientations. During an assembly with the class of 2013, Dr. J told the students that they cannot miss any of the practices. “Even if you work…that won’t work.” he stated.
JUNE 13: A baccalaureate service will be held in the auditorium at 7:00 PM. Campus Life is coordinating the Baccalaureate, which is on a voluntary basis for any senior who wishes to participate. If you would like to, please arrive at 6:45 PM in the cafeteria with your cap and gown.
JUNE 15: Get psyched. No, even more than that. Yeah, that’s better. WE’RE GRADUATING! Commencement is at 10:00 AM. So just get as pumped as possible, because you’ve been working towards this day for 13 years.
After that, enjoy the rest of your life! Good luck, everybody!
