Emily Bailey is a senior this year with many artistic strengths. Particularly, she likes to focus on digital painting, creating many of her pieces on Photoshop. Her highlighted painting, “Submerged,” is a great example of her digital work.
“Submerged” was created this past summer, when she was focusing on sea life. Overall, it took about 16 hours to complete.
In this piece, Emily tried to focus on the details in the fish scales and fins. The woman in the painting was based on a model Emily painted at a class she took at Carnegie Mellon University.
Emily explained that her favorite artist is Glenn Keane, an animator for Disney. Next year, she plans on studying animation herself. Actually, Emily used “Submerged” for one of her college portfolios; however, she is still unsure of where she will be attending in the fall.
“I would love to work for Disney,” she expressed, and with her natural talent we should definitely keep our eyes open for Emily’s work in the future!
