They’re back.
BTS is finally here after a long-anticipated wait, and they’re ready to break more records. The South Korean boy band that has captured the hearts of their fanbase, aka ARMY, announced a new comeback on Jan. 1. A comeback in K-pop is when a group or artist releases new music after an extended period of time.
For BTS, this is their first comeback in four years.
BTS has been dominating not just the world of Korean music but the global music world ever since they debuted in 2013. They were even inducted into the Guinness World Records Hall of Fame thanks to their many record titles in 2022.
Their achievements include (of course, not all):
- Most-streamed act on Spotify (group)
- Most viewed YouTube music video in 24 hours – “Butter” gained 108.2 million views within its first 24 hours of release
- Most-streamed song on Spotify in the first 24 hours – “Butter” set this with over 11 million streams in one day
- Most followers on Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok for a music group
- First K-pop act to reach No. 1 on the US Billboard Albums Chart
- First group since The Beatles to place three No. 1 albums on Billboard 200 in under a year
- First Korean pop group to ever be nominated for a Grammy award
BTS announced a full-group comeback in March 2026 with a new album titled “ARIRANG.” They will support the album with a massive global tour of nearly 80 shows across the United States, Europe, Latin America, and more, starting April 9, 2026.
Ticketmaster demand is exceptionally high, with tickets selling out in hours during the fan presale for ARMY members. The highest queue numbers ranged from 80,000 to 1,000,000.
The ARIRANG era marks the first full-scale BTS project as a complete seven-member group since their hiatus for South Korea’s mandatory military service. After nearly four years of enlistment, all seven members finished their service by mid-2025, which made the comeback easier to accomplish.
Unlike many modern musical groups that break up when members grow older or go solo, BTS reunited intentionally after individual solo projects and their own personal journeys.
BTS’s Jungkook became the most-streamed K-pop soloist on Spotify with his first solo album, “Golden,” which debuted at No.1 on the Billboard 200. BTS’s J-Hope released a single titled “Killin’ It Girl” in 2025 and went viral across all social media. It topped iTunes Top Songs charts in over 60 countries shortly after its release.
Needless to say, the members found their own way to fame while on hiatus.
This comeback isn’t BTS proving themselves to the fans; they already have. Instead, they return to remind the world of who they are and why they deserve their record-breaking career.
This isn’t just a comeback. It’s BTS reclaiming their title as the greatest K-pop group to ever be created that never truly left them.
