Student of the Week: Tessa Helfer
Tessa Helfer is a 17-year-old junior here at BPHS and is this week’s Student of the Week.
BPHS has impacted Tessa’s life in more than one positive way; she says that high school opened her to new opportunities and interests that she never even knew about.
Tessa is a beautiful, blonde Aquarius who loves journalism and making videos. She is a member of many clubs, such as STAND, PACS, Reach, Interact, FCCLA, Morning News Crew and Hawk Eye.
When asked about her favorite subject, Tessa didn’t hesitate to answer with Mr. Bellini’s English 11 Honors class. Due to the fact that she answered so quickly, I had to ask why this was her favorite. Tessa tells me that she loves how interactive the teacher is with his students. She also adds that the curriculum is very interesting and there are always open discussions where students are allowed to expresses themselves and their opinions while still relating to the criteria of the class.
I asked Tessa for her favorite school lunch, but she does not eat BPHS’s school lunches.
Tessa’s favorite Jersey Shore character is JWOWW, because she always did well keeping Snooki grounded. She also prefers Coke over Pepsi.
Tessa says her favorite musician at the time is “Take Me To Church” singer Hozier.
She had some difficulty figuring out her celebrity crush outside of One Direction, but after some contemplation, she decided that a young Johnny Depp was her favorite, especially from the 1993 What’s Eating Gilbert Grape? era.
Tessa’s dream job is a backpack journalist. She would love to travel to the most discrete and interesting places, such as Alaska, Iceland, Norway, Switzerland and Brazil.
Her favorite television shows are between Vampire Diaries, The Fosters, and Switched at Birth. Her favorite member of One Direction is Louis Tomlinson, although she is a huge ‘Larry Shipper’, meaning she advocates a relationship between Louis Tomlinson and Harry Styles.
Tessa has a few words for some people.
First off, to her haters, she says, “I don’t got no haters.”
And to incoming freshmen, Tessa says, “Don’t limit yourself. Try new things, but not drugs.”
“In the end, we’re all fighting to be the best economy. We fight each other while we’re trying to be the best, but in the end, we’re all trying...
