Career Spotlight: Carpentry

Mr. Okraszewski stopped at BPHS to enlighten students or give them an idea of what happens in the field of carpentry. He was able to relate to his valuable experience. He was in the actual field for about 29 years and has been the head of the apprenticeship since then.

In the session, he emphasized that many look to have a job without any physical labor as a primary path. He was very clear to say that even though we need those jobs and that he appreciates people who carry those jobs, a job with physical labor is not a secondary path but just another path.

At the apprenticeship he resides at, joining fee is $450. This includes a drug test and the materials needed during the apprenticeship. Never again would you need to pay again! This is a relatively a low price as you would actually make a surplus within your first actual week of work. But before you get there, you have several hours of apprenticeship that you need to go through too. After this, may good things can come your way if you choose this realistic career choice.
