Thomas William “Tom” Hiddleston, known as Hiddle to his online fans, has ranged in occupations from a Captain in WWI to a King from Medieval Times. Now he is returning to his most known character: The God of Mischief and Lies.
Having been trained in the Royal Academy for Dramatic Arts, it’s only fitting that he gets a role of an immortal prince. Loki, the darker brother of Thor, is returning from his failed attempt at taking rule of the Earth in Thor: The Dark World. It is rumored that this movie will focus more on Thor and his attempts to save the universe post-Avengers.
So what will be Hiddleston’s role in this movie? Will it be as big as The Avengers? In an interview in which he was asked about the pressure following The Avengers movie, Tom had this to say:
It’s mostly self-applied pressure actually. I remember Chris Hemsworth and I saying over the summer when Avengers came out, where do we go now? Going into this one we were – very flatteringly – involved in big creative conversations about tone, and story. Thor and Loki are these two characters that people know and love and understand – so we have to take this in the right direction. You want to do something new – you don’t want to re-heat the same recipe in the microwave, you want to cook up something different and exciting – but you don’t want to lose the things that worked the first time.
In this new and exciting adventure on Asguard, both Tom and Chris have a say in the story and in the development of their characters.
Thor: The Dark World is scheduled to be released November 8 of this year and will be the second in the new Avengers arc.
