Artist of the Week: Hozier
Known for his hit song “Take Me To Church,” Andrew Hozier-Byrne has recorded and released one full and deluxe album that’s self-titled and No. 2 in the US.
Hozier is an Ireland native from Bray, County Wicklow, located in the country. He is just 25 years old, and already has an album that’s reached higher than No. 5 in six countries.
Prior to his days with Rubyworks, Hozier preformed with a choral group as a soloist, singing the song “La Chanson de Mardi Gras.” This was his first taste of touring and preforming live in front of an audience.
Hozier’s Indie rock breakthrough happened in 2013 with his YouTube single “Take Me To Church.” The song has reached No. 1 in Belguim and No. 2 in eight significant countries.
Hozier followed the EP he released the track on with another titled From Eden, consisting of four tracks.
In the early 2014-2015 school year, Hozier released his self-titled album, including five singles. The album, as said earlier, has reached No. 1-5 in six countries.
During the European Border Breakers Awards, the artist won Album of the Year.
