The previous record for the month of April was 2011’s Fast Five, with $86.2 million. The film stars Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow and Samual L. Jackson as director Nick Fury.
The movie is 47% larger than the first Captain America movie , which only grossed $65 million. The movie Captain America: The Winter Soldier grossed a total of $645 million. The movie during its course on top of the charts had many challenges it had to beat and was still standing at the top.
On Fandango, the pre sales for the movie were up 82% than they normally are for a movie. The movie was shown in 3,938 theaters across the world and about 80% of the theaters were in 3D.
The movie was knocked down to number 2 by the movie The Other Women on the first day of May when the movie came out.
The movie was directed by brothers Anthony and Joe Russo, and it was also confirmed that the brothers will help plan out the story for the movie Captain America 3.
Future Marvel release dates for movies are: Guardians of the Galaxy, which opens on August 1, 2014, Avengers: Age of Ultron, which opens on May 1, 2015, and Ant-Man, which opens on July 17, 2015. There are also unannounced movies for the dates of May 6, 2016, July 8, 2016, and May 5, 2017.
