On Sunday, Jan. 26, the Grammy awards were presented. While there were many awards, there were a few that stood out along with their performances.
Some of the big award-winners were Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, who won a total of 4 awards, Daft Punk, who won 4 awards and Lorde, who won 2 awards.
A memorable performance was Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. During their performance, they had Madonna, Trombone Shorty (Troy Andrews), and Queen Latifah join them. During “Same Love,” they had 33 couples in the audience ready to be married, and Queen Latifah came out on the stage and announced the couples to be married. The performance was a memorable moment for the married couples and for the audience. After they were pronounced a married couple, Trombone Shorty and his band lead the couples through the audience.
Another performance that was memorable was when Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr got up on stage together for the first time in ten years. All was right with the world–Ringo was on the drums, and Paul was playing the piano. They preformed Paul’s new song “Queenie Eye.” At the end of the performance, the two of them got up together and took a memorable bow.
Another indelible performance was Daft Punk preforming with Stevie Wonder and Nile Rodgers. During the performance, they performed a collection of songs, including Wonder’s “I Wish,” “Le Freak” and “Get Lucky,” and lastly they preformed “Lose Yourself to Dance.” Their performance was something to remember.
A memorable mash-up that was performed at the Grammys was Imagine Dragons’ “Radioactive” and Kendrick Lamar’s “m.A.A.d city.” During the performance, they had a cloud of red dust fly on their faces, and they also had a bass drum to go with their music video for “Radioactive.” The mash-up of the two songs went well together and the performance was filled with energy.
Overall, the Grammys was an eventful performance-award show. Many exciting things happened and was a night to remember.
