In 2008, the television program Ghost Adventures premiered on the Travel Channel. I thought, “Hah! Could they make a show with people who waste their lives more than these idiotic people?”
A year later, the MTV super-hit show Jersey Shore premiered. I thought, “Wow, can anybody create a show with dumber people than this? There’s no way.”
Two years after that, Animal Planet took me up on both of my challenges. They premiered the show Finding Bigfoot. Now, I must admit that, luckily, I got to live almost two extra years before discovering this interesting program.
One night a couple weeks ago, I was hanging out with a couple of friends. We were killing time; doing nothing and watching TV like most teenage kids. My buddy shouts out randomly, “OH! There’s a new episode of Finding Bigfoot on!”
I then said, “Come on now. Just by the title of this television program, I can tell that it is a waste of time show filled with people acting foolishly. These poor souls are already wasting their own lives, we should not give them the satisfaction of wasting ours.”
Or at least that’s what I should have said…
But, as one can assume, I did not say that. And we watched it. So let me break this show down for you:
It is a television program that follows the BFRO, or the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization. This group of ‘winners’ searchers for the mythical creature known as Bigfoot, a cryptid hominid allegedly living in the wilderness of the US and Canada.
The team investigates different areas by talking to eyewitnesses, and by using night vision technology and FLIR cameras. They also mimick the calls of Bigfoot. Yeah, they sound ridiculous.
Oh, and they call their investigatory process “Squatching.” Squatching is literally just walking in the woods at night being a complete idiot.
The cast includes Matt Moneymaker, the founder of the BFRO. I don’t know if that is his real last name, but at this point…does it really matter?
The team also includes Cliff Barackman, Ranae Holland, and James “Bobo” Fay. You can probably guess by Bobo’s name that he is a large, hairy man. There are many theories that Bobo himself is a close descendant of a ‘squatch.
So if you feel like you’re too smart, check out Finding Bigfoot on Animal Planet. And if you’re feeling like you’re too successful in life, go out Squatching in a patch of woods near you!
But seriously, don’t.
