With graduation in sight how could a second semester senior not catch a bad case of senioritis?
Senioritis is the term used to describe the decreased motivation displayed by students nearing the end of their education. Clearly, high school seniors are a prime group affected by this epidemic.
This disease strikes millions of students unexpectedly every year. Many don’t even notice, until it is too late. Symptoms of senioritis include an excess number of tardies or absences, accumulating missed assignments, and even a sudden drop in grades.
“My grades dropped significantly,” stated Nathan Carpenter, a senior this year. Once he was infected, he couldn’t overcome the senioritis.
Ali Williams, another senior, expressed similar concerns. “I knew I was struck by senioritis when my first concern about being late was not getting a good parking spot, not missing a class.”
The disease is extremely contagious, so if you or a friend develops senioritis it is important to get help as soon as possible.
The best way to fight this illness is prevention. Staying on top of grades and homework can really slow the effects; however, at this point the only known cure is graduation.
