Meet Lucas Benieke
Lucas Benieke is the son of Mal and Alice Benieke and the love interest of Wednesday Addams. He is considered “normal” to the Addams family and this is why everyone disapproves of the relationship between him and Wednesday.
“He likes to think everything through, but by the end of the show he shows a darker side that you don’t see at any other point prior in the show,” Justin Muench said.
He will be played by juniors Justin Muench and Dylan Lawton.
Muench has experienced two different aspects of a BPHS musical as his freshman year he was on stage and played Chip Tolentino in “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” and in his sophomore year, he was beneath the stage playing trumpet in Pit.
“I loved both experiences so much. It was awesome to get both perspectives of being a part of the show. I’m super excited to be back on stage this year though,” Muench said.
Besides acting and playing trumpet for the musicals, Muench is a member of jazz ensemble, symphonic band, marching band, and concert choir.
Lawton has been in two other shows at BPHS. He played Carl and Dan, Logainne’s dads, in “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” his freshman year and Lord Pinkleton in “Cinderella” his sophomore year.
“Both shows were great experiences…I love performing in the BPHS musicals because of the bonds you create with the cast. It’s inspiring to see kids doing something you love and you are able to learn so much from each other,” Lawton said.
Additionally, Lawton has performed in shows at IMS, Little Lake Theatre, and South Park Theatre. Besides doing musicals, is a member of Top 21 and plays trumpet in marching band.
Muench and Lawton are both looking forward to playing Lucas in the spring.
