Since joining Scholastic Publications and the yearbook staff, senior Gabriella Walsh has played an important role in shaping how students experience school media. She has spent her time in the class both creating engaging content for platforms like TikTok and designing pages in the yearbook.
Gabriella found her favorite work in the yearbook, where she was able to combine creativity with storytelling. Designing pages and helping capture important moments from the school year allowed her to play a role in preserving memories that students will look back on for years to come.
Along the way, she strengthened her writing, design, and interview skills, becoming more confident in each area over time. She credits her success to staying hardworking and focused, qualities she believes are essential for anyone involved in the yearbook.
Some of her favorite memories in the class come from field trips, where she was able to bond with her peers and experience learning outside the classroom. These opportunities added to an already rewarding experience and made her time more memorable.
When asked about advice for underclassmen, Gabriella says, “Get your assignments done early!”
She encourages students to stay on top of their work, to lead to better overall results.
After graduation, Gabriella will attend the University of Kentucky to study health sciences. She has already achieved an exciting milestone by trying out for and making the Kentucky Sweetheart Majorettes, adding another accomplishment to her high school career. While she does not plan to continue journalism or design in the future, she hopes to pursue a career in aesthetic nursing, showing her commitment to helping others in a different field.
Looking back, Gabriella’s perspective is one of reassurance and growth.
If she could say one thing to her freshman self, it would be, “Don’t worry, everything will work out,” a message that reflects her confidence in the journey she has taken.
Gabriella Walsh’s time in the yearbook highlights the importance of hard work, creativity, and balance. Her contributions have helped shape the club’s work, and her presence will be remembered both for her dedication and the positive energy she brought to the class.
