For senior Elizabeth Corrins, joining Scholastic Publications and getting involved with the Yearbook Club was a natural decision. Having already been involved with the yearbook in middle school, she knew she wanted to further the experience in high school. Officially joining in her sophomore year, she would participate in the yearbook, which would shape her high school experience.
Elizabeth credits the class with giving her opportunities to connect with others in unique ways. From collaborating with classmates to creating TikToks and videos around the school, she found a sense of community that made her time in BPHS especially memorable.
“My high school experience was awesome because this club gave me so many opportunities to connect with my peers,” she shared.
When reflecting on her work, Elizabeth points out some projects that she particularly enjoyed. Among her favorites were putting together the senior superlatives and capturing moments from the Polar Plunge.
One of the biggest personal changes Elizabeth experienced was in her writing. She admits that she disliked writing, but during her time in the class, her perspective changed altogether. By writing about topics she genuinely cared about, she gradually improved her skills and began to enjoy the process. She notes that her growth is a testament to how trying something out of ones comfort zone can lead to a new strength.
Beyond the work itself, some of Elizabeth’s favorite memories come from the simple moments, especially spending time with her friends during first period.
To underclassmen, Elizabeth offers simple but valuable advice: join the club. She believes it’s a great way to meet new people and build connections throughout school.
Looking ahead, Elizabeth is committed to Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where she plans to study athletic training. While she doesn’t see a future in journalism, she recognizes the impact of her time in the yearbook.
If she could give her younger self one piece of advice, it would be “to be patient and realize things take time.” Undoubtedly, a sentiment she carried with her throughout her journey at BPHS.
Elizabeth Corrins’s time in Scholastic Publications left a lasting impact on the work and the people behind it. Her dedication and positive energy allowed for meaningful moments that will be remembered for years to come. Whether she was working on the yearbook, taking photos for school events, or managing social media, Elizabeth played an important role in shaping the club’s community.
