Whether you see her pulling flags on the turf or playing music in the band, she’s a perfect example of a versatile Bethel Park student.

Daphne Mach, a junior from Bethel Park, participates in a variety of activities, including Marching Band, soccer, club volleyball, Symphonic Band, rifle, flag football, Pit Orchestra, Girls in Engineering, In the Nest (student voices), Physics Club, and Environmental Club. She handles all these activities while being an impressive scholar in her studies.

As described by her peers, Daphne is known to have a welcoming personality, always being warm to new people that she meets. “She has always been so nice to me, and everyone I know who is friends with her has nothing bad to say,” a student said.

“I’m interested in all things. I want to gain experience and have fun, and I honestly just like to stay busy,” was her explanation for why she takes part in so many extracurriculars.

The Physics Club and Girls in Engineering are the most important to her as she wants to study astrophysics at either Embry-Riddle, Penn State, or Michigan State, but is still undecided in her choice.

In her reflection on her high school memories, a few stand out as her favorites.

“I would have to say the band trips and fun days like cultural day, senior luncheons, and more like that,” she said. “A lot of memories were made on the band trips.”

Her advice for students who are younger than her is “do your homework and study for bigger tests, especially when it comes to AP or college in high school classes.”
