Roses & Thorns: Vicki Flotta & Class Changing
This week’s Roses & Thorns celebrates our favorite caller, Vicki Flotta, and our yearly enemy, 2nd semester class changing.
So to Vicki Flotta, I give a SNOW WHITE ROSE for always calling when we get a 2-hour delay or any other event at the school. There is nothing better than waking up to a call from our favorite auto dialer at 5:30 in the morning. Mrs. Flotta is the herald of good news for anyone who forgot to do homework, needs more sleep, or just doesn’t feel like waking up at 5 AM. So thank you Vicki Flotta, you make -10 degree mornings a little less bleak.
Next, to schedule changing I give a HUGE HEADACHE INDUCING THORN for always making life miserable. Whether you are switching into or out of gym, study hall, or any other class, a schedule change is never a good thing to have in your life. You find out halfway through the year you need even more folders, paper, binders, etc. You have to change your carefully plotted path through the halls each day. Then, to make things even more interesting, gym classes don’t operate on the 5 day system, they use the standard weekday, throwing off everyone’s entire system if they have a lab day. So shame on you schedule changes, shame for the headache inducing chaos you put into a student’s life.
