On Jan. 23 of this year, in an unexpected yet exciting turn of events, World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) announced that its flagship program, Monday Night RAW, will find a new home on Netflix
Since its debut in 1993, Monday Night RAW has become a cultural phenomenon, attracting millions of viewers weekly. The show has been synonymous with WWE, delivering thrilling matches, iconic storylines, and unforgettable moments
Now, with its migration to Netflix, WWE aims to reach a new audience and adapt to the growing trend of on-demand streaming services.
While the potential benefits are significant, the transition to Netflix comes with its own set of challenges. WWE will need to ensure that it retains its core fanbase, many of whom may not be accustomed to subscription-based models.
This won’t be hard for the TKO-owned company, as they have averaged just under 4.5 million viewers across their three weekly shows.
The agreement is worth $5 billion and will last for 10 years, with an option to extend an additional 10 years or opt-out after five.
All hope isn’t lost for those who can’t afford streaming services as WWE’s Tuesday and Friday night shows, NXT and SmackDown will remain on the CW and USA networks respectively.
Many WWE figures from across all three brands have already been announced for the show thus far. As of Dec. 18, WWE has announced the following:
- Bianca Belair
- CM Punk
- Cody Rhodes
- GUNTHER
- Jacob Fatu
- Jey Uso
- Jimmy Uso
- John Cena
- Kevin Owens
- Liv Morgan
- Logan Paul
- Rhea Ripley
- Roman Reigns
- Sami Zayn
- Seth “Freakin” Rollins
- Solo Sikoa
- Tama Tonga
- Tonga Loa
With an all-star line-up including champions, superstars, and the future, WWE aims to be able to put on the best show possible. Especially with their Royal Rumble premium live event on Feb. 1, 2024, which marks the beginning of the road to Wrestlemania.
As WWE prepares to launch Monday Night RAW on Netflix, a thrilling new chapter in sports entertainment is on the horizon.
The excitement surrounding this partnership reflects not just a shift in viewership, but a reimagining of how fans will interact with the product they love.
This move also highlights WWE’s commitment to move with the future in a rapidly changing media landscape. In a time when digital platforms are reshaping how audiences engage with content.
The countdown to a new era of Monday Night RAW has begun, and one thing is certain: the best is yet to come. Buckle up for an extraordinary ride in the world of sports entertainment!
