Going into the third quarter, the Hawks only let one touchdown get away, making it 26-14.
At the start of the fourth quarter, the Hawks picked a 5-yard touchdown by senior running back JaVaughn Moore, which improved their lead to 34-14.
Bethel Park senior defender Clancy Orie sacked the Wolverines’ quarterback, which caused their offense to lose yardage.
“I thought they had a good team with some very good players,” said tight end Clancy Orie. “But I felt confident going into the game that we were the better team and that we would bring it to them”
With just 8:47 left, JaVaughn Moore caught a 59-yard pass from Tanner Pfeuffer in the endzone, making the score 42-22. Bethel Park defenders, senior Clancy Orie and juniors Jovian Smith and Bryan McGuire both sacked the Woodland Hills quarterback at their own 32-yard line.
Bethel Park’s offense continued to be dominant for the rest of the game. JaVaughn Moore called the game while scoring his third touchdown of the game.
Senior Quarterback Tanner Pfeuffer said, “We didn’t convert on 4th down a couple times in the second half but our defense got big 4th down stops to pick us up. We played great as a team and that’s why we were able to come out with a win.”
When the clock reached 0:00, the score was 42-22 Bethel Park.
The Hawks take on the No. 1 seed Pine Richland in the semifinals next Friday November 15 at North Hills High School.
