Hawks silence Spartans after dominating Tip-Off Tournament
After easily winning the South Park Tip-Off tournament over the weekend, the Hawks looked to carry that momentum into their regular season. They did just that against the Hempfield Spartans on Tuesday with a final score of 52-46.
From inside the locker room, head coach, Josh Bears said, “Last year we learned we can win games even if we’re pinned down on offense. This year, I know we’re going to put it all together and win championships.”
The leading scorer for the Hawks was senior Dolan Waldo with 15 points. Senior Jaden Goodman sealed the game late in the fourth quarter with a dunk. Together as a team, it was the Hawks’ defense that secured them the victory in the final minutes.
JV also took care of business with a double-digit victory of 55-40.
The boys improve to 3-0 as they look ahead to their next game against South Fayette (1-2). This game is on Friday, Dec. 17, and it’s at home. It’s also Athletic Hall of Fame Night. Let’s go Hawks!
