Pittsburgh Penguins heating up
The Pittsburgh Penguins overcame the Washington Capitals 3-2. The game was played in Washington D.C. on Tuesday night. Kasperi Kapanen’s OT goal is how this club came out victorious and is now on a three-game win streak.
The Pens came out strong by scoring the first goal to take the lead at the end of the first period 1-0.
The Capitals then fought back in the second and scored two quick goals, but the Pens also got a goal late into the period to tie the game at 2. No one scored in the third which sent the game into overtime.
Theodor Blueger and Kasperi Kapanen ended up on a two vs. one and ended up putting the puck in the back of the net for the Pens win.
This was a great team win against one of the top teams in the NHL right now. The Penguins now stand in third place right behind the Capitals and the Bruins.
The three goals were scored by Evgeni Malkin, Jake Guentzel, and Kasperi Kapanen. Guentzel and Kapanen both had an assist to go along with their goal.
Tristan Jarry had a great game by saving 20/22 shots faced. He made some key saves in overtime to seal up this game.
Washington’s goals were scored by Richard Panik and Conor Sheary.
The Pens are right back up to play the Capitals again tomorrow night in D.C. This will be another close game and hopefully, the Penguins can steal some more points.
