Chiefs defeat Bills in rain on MNF
The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Buffalo Bills 26-17. The game was played Monday night in Buffalo. Kansas City’s offense was too much for the Bills.
The reigning Super Bowl Champs came out ready to play. A major part of them winning this game was their running game. The Chiefs had 245 rushing yards compared to only 84 rushing yards for Buffalo. Clyde Edwards-Helaire had 161 of those rushing yards.
Patrick Mahomes threw for 225 yards and went 21-26 passing. He had two touchdowns, both to tight end Travis Kelce.
The Bills were playing man-on the receivers a lot this game, and Mahomes saw that. He took advantage of that by running the ball.
Another huge part of the Chiefs rolling the Bills is Kansas City’s defense. The Bills are used to scoring big numbers in games. This defense held them to only 10 points at halftime, and then seven points in the whole second half. They also got an interception thrown by Buffalo’s quarterback Josh Allen.
Kansas City’s coach, Andy Reid, has a 5-1 team now. He is witnessing teams letting the Chiefs run the ball to play more protective of the passing game. Opposing teams don’t want Mahomes to throw the ball. Reid got a rookie running back from the draft this year.
The Kansas City Chiefs were too good for the Bills and got the job done in Buffalo. They go on the road again next week in Denver to play the Broncos.
