Lang leads flock at Bald Eagle Invite
Freshman Jenna Lang once again put together a strong race at a big invite, this time crossing the line in first place and with a new personal record.
Just two weeks ago, freshman Jenna Lang placed third at the Red, White, & Blue Invitational, running a personal best time of 18:44.
This past weekend, Lang outdid herself, placing first and running 34 seconds faster on the same course.
Lang ran the 3.1-mile course at White Oak Park with a time of 18:10, beating the second-place finisher Gina Bolla, a senior at Baldwin High School, by nine seconds, and the third-place finisher Meredith Price, a junior at Pine Richland High school, by 35 seconds.
The race was the AAA Girls Varsity race and consisted of 138 girls from different school districts around Allegheny County.
“I was pushing harder this race than any other race this season, but I felt good,” said Lang. “When I crossed the finish line I was so tired and exhausted that I could barely stand. However, I was so excited about my time and excited for the second place girl, Gina Bolla from Baldwin, who also PRed (personal record) and ran an 18:19, and for my teammates who all ran their best times as well.”
White Oak will also be home to the TSTCA Invite and the WPIAL Championships later in the season.
