MLB close to plan to play in 2020
With the coronavirus impacting sports throughout the world, the MLB is getting close to returning.
There are many possibilities as to when baseball may return, but highly touted reporter Jeff Passan posted this on Twitter:
Teams are telling players to get ready and get in shape. MLB is expected to send a return-to-play proposal to the union soon. The gears for baseball’s return are starting to turn — but significant hurdles remain for it to become a reality. News at ESPN: https://t.co/fHiasxlS1A

Obviously, they are still a little ways away from returning, but it does sound like things are getting closer.
With that being said, there are two main ideas about how they will play the season.
One of the ideas the MLB has involves restructuring the divisions for the season.
The divisions would look like this:
East:
- New York Yankees
- New York Mets
- Boston Red Sox
- Toronto Blue Jays
- Philadelphia Phillies
- Baltimore Orioles
- Washington Nationals
- Tampa Bay Rays
- Miami Marlins
- Pittsburgh Pirates
Central:
- Atlanta Braves
- Minnesota Twins
- Milwaukee Brewers
- St. Louis Cardinals
- Kansas City Royals
- Chicago Cubs
- Chicago White Sox
- Cincinnati Reds
- Cleveland Indians
- Detroit Tigers
West:
- Los Angeles Angels
- Los Angeles Dodgers
- Seattle Mariners
- San Francisco Giants
- San Diego Padres
- Texas Rangers
- Houston Astros
- Colorado Rockies
- Oakland Athletics
- Arizona Diamond-backs
These would be the divisions in order to limit travel and not spread throughout the entire country.
The other alternative would be to keep it as it already is, but extend the playoffs and limit the number of games in the season.
No matter what, though, the games will start without fans. Hopefully, by the end of the season, they will allow fans in to watch.
Baseball is on the road back, but there is still a long journey ahead.
Hopefully, with this recent news and new ideas, they will be playing very soon.
