Kallaur sets new personal best in breaststroke, finishes 8th in WPIAL
Kallaur is not a fish out of water when it comes to swimming.
Paul Kallaur is a junior and is a member of the Bethel Park swim team. Kallaur is a dedicated swimmer, and he recently competed in the 100-meter breaststroke at the WPIAL Championships.
Kallaur usually dominates in his meets, and this was no different. He finished with a time of 59.2 seconds, which was a new personal best for him. He was just 2.75 seconds short of the Bethel Park varsity record set at 56.45 seconds.
“It felt so great to beat my best time and finally go under a minute,” Kallaur said. “I’ve been chasing that goal all season. I’m super excited to keep working this summer and next season so I can break the varsity record next season.”
Unfortunately for Kallaur, he did not make states. He finished 8th overall in the meet and 25th overall in the state for the breaststroke. He was selected as the first alternative for states.
Kallaur will continue swimming for Bethel Park next year. He hopes to qualify for states next year and break the varsity record.
