Olivia Westphal is a sophomore here at BPHS. This is her second year of being a starter on the girls varsity basketball team. She has accomplished great things in her two years of being here at BPHS, and she doesn’t plan on stopping there.

Westphal has been playing basketball since she was 5 years old. She grew up in a gym, watching her older siblings, Jordan and Kayla, play.

As Westphal grew up, she played on multiple basketball teams. She played travel basketball for both her age group and the age group a year older than her. She played on the CV Basketball League team, and she also played AAU basketball for the Western PA Bruins. Olivia was a key player for all of these teams. Her CV League team won the league all four years they participated in it, and they won many tournaments during that time as well.

Westphal came to the high school two years ago and immediately caught everybody’s eye. She started as a freshman and averaged 15 points per game. Her outstanding knowledge and execution of the game placed her in a seat at the First Team All-Section banquet. She was the only freshman from the Lady Hawks section.

She currently has three offers: University of Akron, Binghamton University, and Duquesne University.

Westphal isn’t all about basketball though. She focuses very hard on her academics. She currently has a 4.2 GPA, and she plans on joining NHS this upcoming year.

This season, she is currently averaging 18 points per game. She is helping the Lady Hawks continue their winning record. They are currently 13-1.

Make sure you keep an eye out for all that Olivia Westphal accomplishes in the future!
