Hawks battle the Central Catholic Vikings on Thursday, Oct. 18.

The Hawks’ varsity hockey team competed in the National Invitational Scholastic Showcase this past weekend where they squared off against teams from all over the Northeastern Area. The Hawks played three games over the weekend and managed to escape with a winning 2-1 record.

On Friday, Nov. 30, the Hawks had their first game where they faced off against St. Ignatius. With the help of senior goalie Nick Guimond, the Hawks shutout St. Ignatius to win 3-0.

Then, on Saturday, Dec. 1, the Hawks played two games, the first was against Glenbrook South where they again shutout their opponent. This time, however, was with the help of freshman Dominic Zevola.

The Hawks finished the weekend with a 3-1 loss to Ontario Hockey Academy.

The Hawks have been in a rut recently, having lost their last two regular games before the Showcase. Hopefully, they can carry this newfound confidence with them back into the regular season. Their next match-up is against Peters Township on Thursday, Dec. 6 at the YMCA.
