Lady Hawks leap over Little Lions
On Tuesday, Mar 13, the Lady Hawks defeated State College 53-35 at Central Cambria High School in the Sweet 16 in the PIAA State playoffs.
After the end of the first quarter, the girls were down 12-10, but they turned it around in the second frame and were ahead 28-21 at halftime.
After the third quarter, the Lady Hawks extended their lead to 37-28.
With just two minutes remaining in the game, the Lady Hawks were ahead by 17.
The high scorers were Maria Cerro with 14, Kam Lach with 12, and Olivia Westphal with 11. Cerro also had nine steals.
This was the first time the girls won a second round state playoff game in eight years.
The Lady Hawks now advance to the Elite 8 to play North Allegheny. The game is scheduled for Friday, March 16 at 6 PM at Baldwin High School.
Pre-sale tickets for the game are on sale in the Athletic Office on Thursday and Friday. Student tickets are $3 and adult tickets are $6. There will be no student tickets sold at the game.
Students are encouraged to sign up in the Athletic Office to travel on a fan bus to the game.
