Coming off a successful showing at the Burgettstown Tournament last weekend, the wrestling team is looking towards a strong performance this upcoming weekend at the Allegheny County Tournament.

At the Burgettstown Tournament, Jason Montgomery led the team with a first place finish. Following Montgomery was Riley O’Mara with third place. Jake Dowell placed fourth, and Parker Loera, Ben Yantek, Vinny Reipoli, and Justin Metzmaier all finished in 5th.

Before the Hawks head off to the County Tournament, they face Upper Saint Clair Wednesday night in an important section match. The Hawks are 2-2 in their section. A win against USC could qualify them for the section championships.

At the county tournament, Ben Yantek is seeded 7th at 132 lbs, Hunter Kernan second at 152 lbs, Luke Montgomery 5th at 160, Jason Montgomery is seeded 1st at 170, and Jake Dowell is 4th at 220. If you finish in the top 8 of your weight class, then you are considered All-County.

J. Montgomery looks to be Bethel’s 9th all-time Allegheny County Tournament Champion. Perhaps his coach Rob Heuler can offer him some pointers.  Heuler was a Champ in 2011.
